I think it was the Grateful Dead that put lyrics to a song “What a Long Strange Trip It’s Been”… Well, here in North West Kansas and South Central Nebraska “What a Long Strange Spring It’s Been”… We haven’t had biblical rain and flooding like they’ve had in Oklahoma and Texas (Thank God !!!), however, in the fourteen years sense I first started Guiding in this region of KS and NE, I’ve not seen rain, cold and MUD, span a period of time like we had in April/May 2015. The up side, we survived, and still managed to have a good season and actually the last week of May we had a couple here from Missouri take four birds on two consecutive SUNNY days.
There’s a silver lining to the all the moisture we’ve been getting this spring. Our crops & cover are thriving. Our Jake numbers are unreal (ask anyone that hunted with us this spring) and we’re already seeing newly hatched 2015 babies. The years to come look to be as good as it’s ever been for our Spring Turkey Hunters!!!
I want to take a moment and Thank All of our Hunters, without you, next spring wouldn’t be possible. My Guides Matt, Scott, and Warren for their efforts this spring and Tanya and Niki for keeping The Lodge in shape and making sure no one leaves hungry!!!
There’s no rest for the weary!!! With a wrap on Spring Turkey 2015 my attention turns to Fall Deer Season 2015… I’m excited to put New Farms, New Stands/Blinds and some of the best Horn Growing conditions we’ve seen the past couple years to work in both our Kansas and Nebraska Operations. There are still a few Archery Spots (KS & NE), Three Muzzle Loader Spots (KS), and One KS Rifle Spot available for this coming fall. Give me a call or send an email for dates…
Coming June 2015 “BGS South” Saltwater Adventure and Fishing Memberships (Lower Florida Keys)… Look for details this month!!!
Best,
